NUS Fingerstyle Guitar
NUS Fingerstyle Guitar (NFG) is a young and vibrant Arts group proudly established in 2019. Guitarists in NFG challenge musical norms, and frequently explore extended techniques like tapping and incorporating percussive effects to push the physical capabilities of the solo guitar. The spirit of fingerstyle guitarists is one that is free and unique, with each guitarist presenting a piece of themselves in their music.
NFG guitarists are passionate about propagating the fingerstyle genre to a wider audience and embarking on personal musical journeys to elevate their craft. As such, music creation like arrangement and fusion has also been a strong point of emphasis.
NUS Resonance
Formed in 2001, NUS Resonance is NUS’ pioneer and premier collegiate a cappella group, made up of people bound by a common love for singing. Members come from diverse musical backgrounds, and they sing just about anything — from contemporary pop to choral music, alternative rock to swing, and even the occasional techno tune.
NUS Resonance continually strives towards promoting a greater awareness of a cappella music both within and outside of campus. To date, their most notable achievements include securing the top position in the Singapore National A Cappella Championships (2006 – 2008, 2011, 2012, 2014, & 2015), and their annual concert, Vocal Obsession. Internationally, they have also won A Cappella competitions in Korea and Taiwan, most recently clinching the Gold Award at the 2016 International Kodaly A Cappella Festival in Seoul, South Korea.
